What's New

What we have shipped, and what changed for you.

Changes to the BiteRoutes website and backend, newest first. The iOS app ships on Apple's review cycle, so its updates are listed in the App Store.

Version 1.0.5

For anyone writing to us

The contact form, and the Get Started form for trucks, now run a quick automated check before your message is sent. For almost everyone it is invisible: you type, you send, and nothing else happens. Only traffic that looks automated gets asked to prove otherwise. If the check will not load at all, you are still let through to a clear message pointing you at support@biteroutes.com, so writing to us is never a dead end.

Behind the scenes

Real questions from real people were being buried under automated submissions inventing food trucks that do not exist. Those are now stopped before they reach anybody.

Version 1.0.4

For everyone on an iPhone

The site is dramatically quicker. Pages that felt sluggish in Safari while feeling fine in Chrome now behave the same in both. Nothing about how the site looks has changed.

For food truck owners

Choosing a plan is a clearer page: you can see what you will be charged today before you commit, a code you have applied shows as applied instead of sitting in a box, and the whole thing works with a keyboard. If you turned off alerts about trucks you follow, that setting is now actually respected in the daily email.

For people who send trucks our way

You now get a proper welcome email with your link and your code, and a short note once a month so they are never more than one email away.

Behind the scenes

Deleting your account now genuinely removes your login rather than reporting success and leaving it behind. The site works properly with a screen reader for the first time. And there is a page listing what changed in each release.

Version 1.0.3

For food truck owners

Your sales tax rate now fills itself in from your business address, using California's own rate lookup, and it tells you which jurisdiction it came from. You can still override it, and a truck that owes no sales tax can finally finish setting up, which was previously impossible. Setting up an account no longer involves a temporary password: an invite is now a single link that takes you straight to choosing your own. If an invite expires or never arrives, it can be sent again.

For eaters

The site is quicker, particularly on a phone. Tapping Sign In from the menu is roughly ten times faster than it was, and browsing pages do far less work in the background, which leaves more of your connection for the things you actually asked for.

For partners

You get a link to share. A truck who arrives through it has your code carried the whole way through signing up, so they are credited to you without anyone typing anything. Note the link is what credits you, not a discount: a truck still enters a promo code at checkout to get an offer.

Behind the scenes

Verification documents are now private and only readable through short-lived links. Email that bounces or is marked as spam is tracked so undeliverable addresses stop damaging delivery of the mail that matters. And several account paths that could strand somebody are fixed.

Version 1.0.2

For food truck owners

Signing in is far less fussy. Your email address works whatever way you capitalise it, a website can be typed as plainly as myfoodtruck.com, and if you saved your description and phone number the setup checklist now credits you for them instead of insisting they are still missing. If you never confirmed your account, the password reset page now sends you somewhere useful rather than claiming you have no phone number.

For eaters

Pages load substantially faster on a phone, particularly the homepage and individual truck pages. Allergen labels now mean what they say, which matters if you are reading them for a reason.

Behind the scenes

Personal details on an account (contact information, order history, saved places) are now locked to the person they belong to and to admins, closing a gap that could have exposed them. Email that bounces or is marked as spam is now tracked and retired, so undeliverable addresses stop damaging delivery of the mail that matters.

Version 1.0.1

For food truck owners

You can raise a support request from your dashboard and have it land in a real queue rather than an inbox. Promo codes now show the exact price before you reach the payment page, including a waived signup fee where the code allows one. Payouts appear as a visible step when you set up, so nobody goes live only to find out later they cannot be paid. Sponsored visibility is a balance you can see and control instead of a setting working invisibly in the background.

For eaters

Mostly fewer broken edges. Dates that displayed as "Invalid Date" read properly, order pages no longer open for a truck that cannot actually take orders, and saved profile photos appear straight away.

Behind the scenes

A photo you delete is now genuinely removed from storage rather than staying reachable at its old link, uploads accept only real image files, and both environments have database backups.

Version 1.0.0
